What this IndexNow checker checks and how to act on it
An IndexNow checker confirms that the key file at your site root is reachable, returns 200 as plain text with no redirect, and contains exactly the key, which is what participating engines verify before accepting submissions. It also confirms the host is reachable from outside your network, since CDN and firewall rules can block the engine's verification fetch.
IndexNow is supported by Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam.cz, and Yep, and a submission to one is shared with all; Bing's index also feeds Microsoft Copilot. Google does not participate. An accepted submission means the URL will be fetched promptly, not that it is indexed. Submit only URLs that changed, batched, and check the IndexNow report in Bing Webmaster Tools.
