What this missing keywords checks and how to act on it
A missing keywords finder compares the terms and phrases a competing page uses with the ones your page uses for the same topic, and lists the ones you lack, grouped by how many top-ranking pages share them. It is a coverage check, not an instruction to stuff terms: a missing phrase usually points to a sub-question the competing page answers and yours does not.
Use the list to find sections to add rather than words to insert. Under query fan-out, engines retrieve pages per sub-query, so a page that covers the related sub-questions a competitor covers becomes a candidate for more of them. Pair the finder with the content gap finder for page-level gaps and with your Search Console queries to see which missing phrases already send impressions.
